Pipex chambers provide a cost effective and fast-track construction alternative to traditional brick and precast manholes and catchpits.
Pipex chambers are ideal for fast-track projects, restricted access sites, high water table areas, flood risk areas, brownfield sites, contaminated land, chemical drainage and general foul and surface water manholes for external adoptable or non-adoptable drainage.
The significant advantages of Pipex chambers when compared to traditional brick or precast concrete manhole chambers include:
- Guaranteed factory build quality
- Fast track construction
- No skilled labour
- No confined space entry - meets CDM requirements
- Reduced build, service & maintenance costs
- Space Saving –up to 10 branch connections in 1200mm Chamber - internal benching fabricated to suit required fall
- Backdrops, stepped and level inverts - factory fabricated to suit specific project requirements
- Sealed channel access chambers can be provided on internal drainage up to 4 bar pressure rating
- Meet Building Regulations Section H requirements - to minimise the risk of future blockage, leakage and dangerous foul water surcharge events during flooding
- Smooth, robust internal thermoplastic surfaces:
- prohibit snagging of debris and rags
- prohibit the build up of FOG (fats, oils and greases)
- do not chip or degrade during service or under maintenance high pressure jetting
- do not degrade overtime due to localised environment issues such as flooding, contaminated soils, biological attack, sulphate corrosion or concrete cancer.
- Protection of local environment, water tables and aquifers from contamination - 6 metre deep manholes are guaranteed fully sealed even in areas with water tables to ground level.
- Sustainable low energy use products compared to traditional materials.
- Innovative optional shuttering reduces concrete wastage
- Connect to any interconnecting drainage pipe system i.e. clay, cast iron, plastic
Althon Pipex Chambers standard sizes range from 1200 to 2100mm diameter and up to 6m deep, however due to the manufacturing process they can be made as small as 450mm diameter and as large as 3500mm diameter (largest diameter before Police Escort required for transporting), and up to 12m deep.
Althon require only a manhole schedule or copy of a general arrangement layout drawing to provide project specific design details & quotation for Pipex chambers.
